‘Good wine is a good familiar creature if it be well used’

~
William Shakespeare (1564-1616)
Othello, II. iii. (315)

This is a new area of the blog that I have decided to put in for 2012 to add a bit more variety to this site.   ‘Why?’ you may ask?  Well, having being bought a delicious wine by my brother and his partner, I decided why not?  Here I intend to only provide a list of wines that I like, red or white (I detest rose)!  It is not a place I will list the bad, because lets face it, what would be the point, I’d be wasting my time, but most importantly, your time.

So in this section of my blog, I will provide details of the wines I like, and ones suitable for all budgets (noting that I wont be going above the £20 mark).  I will also provide you with links, or the name of the super market in which the wine can be bought.

So without further a do… ENJOY!

KEEP CHECKING BACK – SOON TO BE UPDATED!

“The Love Grass” d’Arenberg 75l

I first came across this delightful, sensual and delicious shiraz when dining with a work colleague of mine and friends at Balans, in Soho (London).

From the moment the bottle is opened, poured into your glass, an exciting time begins and one that you will not want to end.  It is truly a wine to have with friends over a hearty meal.

Your first sip will introduce you to the uniqueness of this wine, full of flavor, not bitter, nor sweet.  It has a richness like no other, full in flavor with a nice depth, not too dissimilar to a Cabernet Sauvignon (Cab.Sav.), yet definitely is without the harshness that commonly comes with cheap Cab.Sav.

This wine is ideal for red meat dishes, not to mention with cheese.  It suits spicy foods, and most definitely should be served at room temperature.

This remarkable wine can be purchased for under £10 a bottle.  So far, I haven’t come across a supermarket in which you can buy it, and therefore I will have to stick to ordering online (should you find one, please let me know).  Therefore, if you want to sample this true delight, I advise you check out the following link: http://www.ndjohn.co.uk/index.php/love-grass-shiraz.html?___store=default&___store=default
